Clubhouse-The Groundbreaking Relationship Building Social App
Written By: Tosin Ajogbeje/Date:2021/03/25

Clubhouse is the hot new social media app making waves. At first, I hesitated joining the app to avoid unnecessary distractions. After a friend introduced me to the app, I got a taste of the networking app. Created by Paul Davison and Rohan Seth, the invite-only audio platform allows its users to participate in different chat rooms on a wide range of engaging topics. The platform not only connects you with some of the world’s most high-profile business and industry leaders, but also allows you to interact with celebrities. Of course the app is taking the internet by storm, and people get to talk about their businesses, music careers, personal and professional relationships and other topics in science and technology. The bottom line is that you can create rooms on topics you’re interested in or join rooms that incite valuable conversations that you’re passionate about.
Celebrities like Chris Rock, Oprah, Ashton Kutcher have been spotted hosting and listening to conversations on the app. While using the app, I was able to join in and listen to celebrities like Tyrese Gibson in a Directors, Actors and Casting Agents segment speak about life and making better career choices. I also listened in on effective marketing strategies, inspirational segments and relationship experts. The great part about this app is that people can check out your profile picture or your bio and follow you. This helps to build your professional community or build your target audience. Engaging with diverse entrepreneurs could help grow your business faster than you think. In an article published on Harvard Business Review, communication helps to maintain social relationships that are critical for our happiness, health, and the smooth running of a business. No doubt the app might have a downside. You cannot join the app without an invite. Only iPhone users can download the app and reserve a username. However, there are plans to expand it to the general public soon. Reasons for directing the app to just iPhone users is to slowly build community and prepare for features that will handle more people from around the world.
Two things to keep in mind about Clubhouse. This might be an exclusive app for iPhone users, but if it is widely used, the app could greatly change how we interact online. Clubhouse is like a mixture of conversational podcasts, TEDx talks, a community meeting or a call-in radio all in one. Again, If you hang around Clubhouse long enough, it might be a good way to kick-start meaningful conversations. Unlike other social media apps, Clubhouse allows you to consume audio passively. You don’t have to show up in a video call and get all dressed up to speak to people.
From the convenience of your home or when you’re outdoors, Clubhouse can keep you going. No meeting requests are required as you can join any room or conversation. Business owners and professionals can keep up with industry trends and follow influential people in their professional field. Being able to stay updated about new trends will enable you get instant feedback about your work. Investors could be knocking at your door at any moment, presenting a life-changing opportunity to you. Now, I am not saying Clubhouse is the ultimate solution to growing your business or portfolio, but it can give you a voice and a platform to share your own story. If you want to talk about what you do and the impact you want to make in the lives of people or the problems you are looking to solve in the world, then Clubhouse is for you. When you use your time wisely on the app and engage in various discussions, then you can strengthen your brand value.
